The group came into existence approximately 5 yrs. ago after Peggy Burke read the book "Knitting into the Mystery" about an international shawl making group. Over the past 5 years we have had over 50 members come through, the oldest being 86 and the youngest age 8. We've had 4 men join the group and become some of our best knitters. Initially the group was named "Father Navy's Knitters" because of Fr. Navy's newfound enjoyment of knitting. The group makes scarves, hats, baby items, lap blankets and shawls among other items. Each member works on the project of their choice. We like to think that each item is handmade with love and prayers. The sale of our embellished flip flops was quite successful the past three years at the church bazaar. To date we have raised over 2500 dollars, all of which has been donated to various local charities. We accept donations of yarn, knitting books, hooks and needles. We are located in a spacious conference room (the school's former Chapel) at the former Seton Catholic High School, 37 William St., Pittston.
