The Care and Concern Free Health Clinic, under the auspices of Saint John the Evangelist Parish in Pittston, Pennsylvania was opened in November of 2007 to serve people from all walks of life who have no access to health insurance. Our mission is to love and serve the Lord by providing health care to those in need. Our outreach has extended beyond Luzerne County and into Lackawanna, Wyoming, Wayne, Pike, Monroe, and Carbon counties.
The Clinic is operated by an all volunteer staff composed of doctors, physician assistants, dentists, nurses, dieticians, social services professionals, counselors and other individuals in the community who want to make a difference. We are opened on Wednesday evenings with registration from 5:30 to 6:30. The clinic is currently closed on the last Wednesday of each month. We provide non-emergency medical care. The Clinic is a first come/first serve clinic; appointments are not required for medical care.
On the first Wednesday of every month, we offer podiatry services; on the second Wednesday of each month we offer dental services for acute, urgent care. Appointments are necessary for these two services and can be made by calling 570-954-0645. We do not prescribe medications for anxiety, pain or weight loss nor do we prescribe birth control. All services are free of charge thanks to the support of the community, grants and fund raisers.
We realize that our patients face a variety of challenges in accessing health care and we strive to meet each need that is presented. We take pride in providing a positive, supportive and caring environment in which patients can maintain their self respect and dignity. It is our hope that all patients who enter our clinic leave as a friend.
